Painterly Paint Pot vs Too Faced’s Shadow Insurance

I’ve used both products for a quite amount of time and I’ve come to claim my opinion about these two. I have a love-hate relationship with both products. But I’ve decided what is going to be a permenant product in my collection and what will be thrown away when it’s done and not be repurchased.

Too Faced’s Shadow insurance comes in a tube for 11g/0.35 oz. It’s light, compact, and the packaging is cute. It holds my shadow all day and I can easily sweat through it and still be fine with no smudging. Problem is after you go half way through it, when you squeeze it out of the tube, out comes this clear semi-scented liquid. Instead of the nude semi-thick gel like consistency, you get this oil like base. It’s an easy fix, but when I’m rushing I’d like to be able to squeeze this right on my lids and be done. But if this problem occurs, I have to shake it then squeeze.

MAC’s Painterly Paint Pot comes in a container for 5g/0.17oz. It comes in a glass packaging with a black lid and sometimes makes me a bit more cautious as opposed to the shadow insurance. It’s a pinky, nude color that comes in a thick consistency that glides right on. It kept my eyeshadow in place for a while but if you plan on going out and partying when you know you’ll sweat, this is what you want to go for. It’ll hold for a while, but not a long time. This color is also vey light so when I apply this I have to be precise or else it’ll look sloppy. I could wear this all day and be fine, smudging happens due to my eyeliner but it’s nothing I can’t fix almost immeadiately. This also acts like a highlight for me so it’s a great bonus.

I like to be able to do my makeup and be perfectly fine with it and not have someone tell me it has smudge or there is a something somewhere on my face. For regular day use, I love the paint pot. But when I’m going out but still want to look hot without looking like a mess, I’ll use the shadow insurance.

Shadow Insurace: B+
Paint Pot: B+

My theory is that primer potion is just a moist version of the paint pot. But that’s another story.
